What are some part-time/"side-hustle" jobs for civil engineers?

Anything on Etsy. Build wooden furniture or something. I pull in a couple 100 a month, it's not much but it keeps me busy on the weekends

I build wood furniture in my spare time. Brings in some decent money that basically funds my hobby plus gives me a few extra bucks. Helps keep me creative when I am not doing design work in my day job.

Along with basic carpentry work, I've done quite a bit of concrete for homes. Driveways, patios, sidewalks, etc. It's hard work though, and while the money is good, I'm getting to a point where it isn't worth the wear and tear.

I'll let you in on my retirement plan. Flood Elevation Certificates. They are super easy to do. Some don't even require an NAVD88 or NGVD29 elevation, just a height above natural ground. If you want to "hustle" go to old neighborhoods that are in a flood zone and go door to door asking if they have an EC. If not, they can get their Flood Insurance reduced with a completed EC.
Edit: How to.

How much do you charge for something like that?

Interesting. Niche things like this are bound to rake in dough when you play your cards right!

I'm going to do this to help mitigate my SL debt eventually

I own a condo overlooking Lake Powell that I rent out.
Real estate can be a great investment in terms of passive income. After taxes and fees, it brings in $500 per month.
Kinda wish I bought two.

I have my day job at my local government and do side work for a smaller company in my spare time. Side work is not in the same jurisdiction as my day job, however. Found it on indeed.com

Your contract didn't have a moonlighting clause?

That's the key.

I'm a public servant for the Spanish government and can't do (forbidden by law) anything related with design/construction.

I do nail art on the side :) Mostly a hobby at the moment, but the plan is to get my nail tech license after I get my PE license. Obviously it isn't everyone's thing but it can pay pretty well as far as side gigs go.

I'd love to see some of your works!

Care to elaborate? Autocad tutorials? Or just anything in general?

Wow this thread was all I was thinking about the past couple days, I was also thinking of side hustles from listening to a podcast called Side Hustle School available on Spotify. And I too was interested in woodworking.
